I was once told that Abraham Lincoln failed at everything before he became president. He was defeated for congressman, senator, Vice President and various other political offices. Today, he is known as one of the greatest presidents in the history of these the United States. Seven years ago, I first sent my novel to many agents, including the Senior Editor of Random House, one of the biggest publishing companies in the world. They all said thank you, but…. The Senior Editor at Random House sent back my manuscript with red ink on every line and said to be frank Racquel, your book is just not publishable and I wish you luck. She was kind enough to tell me all that was wrong with it, and year after year, editor after editor, no sign of progress. Change of title, change of characters, change of story line, sleepless nights, do it again Racquel, do it again Racquel, do it again. Doubt, anger and resentment took over and I buried my dream to the NY Times Best Sellers List. I buried my dream period, as an author. One day my husband came and

read to me a quote from Michael Jordan, “I have missed more than 9000 shots in my career, I have lost almost 300 games, on 26 occasions, I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” Like a woman in labor, it is when the pain comes that you must push. I got up, apologized to myself and got back to work. Every fall now was one less fall closer to my dreams. I sent the book out to an editorial service to be edited not knowing on which of the top editor’s desk, it would land. I received a phone call and couple weeks later, saying that it was a complete pleasure to have read my story and I was wished the best of luck as my book was on its way to selling millions. It was the former Senior Editor of Random House who once read my book seven years ago. Growing and shaping into who GOD destined you to be don’t mean you will not experience pain that comes with remolding. It means you are blessed that he would take the time to work on you.
